In France, Law No. 2005-102 of 11 February 2005 requires certain public online communication services to comply with digital accessibility requirements, defined in particular by European standard EN 301-549 and Référentiel Général d'Amélioration de l'Accessibilité (RGAA) standards, with the aim of making public online communication services accessible to people with disabilities.
In accordance with Article 3 of Decree No. 2019-768, "content of intranet and extranet sites published before 23 September 2019 is not subject to the accessibility requirement until such time as these sites undergo an in-depth review".
The content of this extranet site, which went online on 17 January 2017, is therefore not subject to digital accessibility requirements.
However, the following measures have been voluntarily implemented to improve the site's accessibility:
Restructuring of pages (use of appropriate tags to divide pages into < header >, < main > and < footer > sections).
Improvement of styles used: update of style sheets, use of colour variables, addition of appropriate "font-size" (and converting "px" to "em"), optimisation of targeted element management (outline), improvement of colour contrasts and the overall readability of elements (text and input fields).
Addition of skip links ("skip links"): allows direct browser links to be displayed in the sections of the page (header, browser, main content and footer).
Keyboard browsing: allows users to browse the entire site using the keyboard (including modals).
"Language selection" drop-down menu: addition of the "lang" attribute (optimises voice output with the correct accent) and updating of the "lang" attribute in the parent < html > tag with every language change.
Management/addition of customised error messages for each form submission: login, account creation, etc.
Added aria-label attributes for all buttons without text: voice indication of selected element.
Removal of < br > tags used to manage styles: replaced by suitable CSS properties.
Integration of the "Tailwind CSS" framework: allows removal of certain custom CSS properties in favour of generic classes.
Integration of the Fontawesome library: allows users to remove most decorative images in favour of icons in svg format (optimised for the web).
General design improvements beyond tasks directly related to accessibility, global updating of styles and effects (modernisation).
